Professional career:
Tate began his professional career in the 2014-15 season with the Idaho Stampede (now the Salt Lake City Stars). There, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
His G-League career continued in the 2017-18 season with the Cleveland Charge and the Texas Legends. That season, he averaged 2.5 points and 1.6 rebounds.
In the 2019-20 season with the Capital City Go-Go, he averaged one point per game.
Tate has also played both overseas and in the CEBL. This is his fifth season with the BlackJacks and his seventh in the CEBL. Before the BlackJacks, he played with Guelph Nighthawks and the Vancouver Bandits.
He’s also played professionally in the Canadian NBL (now the Basketball Super League) with the Windsor Express, the Sudbury Five, and the KW Titans.
Overseas, he has played with Rayos de Hermosillo of the Mexican CIBACOPA, CSM Steaua Bucuresti of the Romanian Divizia A and Sigal Prishtina of the Kosovo FBK.
College career:
Tate played four seasons at Fayetteville in the NCAA. In his graduating year during the 2013-14 season, he averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Personal life:
From Calgary, Alta., Tate likes to read and meditate to calm his mind during the basketball season.
He is also a father, and last year his daughter came to a game and hung out with the BlackJacks cheerleaders. As a cheer dad, he was happy to see his daughter hang out with women who could inspire her.
