Ottawa BlackJacks Sign Local U SPORTS Players, Maxime Boursiquot and Aiden Warnholtz

May 12, 2022

The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of two Ottawa-native U SPORTS players, including Gee-Gees forward Maxime Boursiquot and Ravens guard Aiden Warnholtz.

A six-foot-five forward from Ottawa, Maxime Boursiquot averaged 7.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 110 games split between the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Northeastern University Huskies in the NCAA Division I.

This past season, Boursiquot played 15 games with the Gee-Gees, where he averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals. He finished ninth in the OUA in steals per game and reached double-figures 12 times. On March 4, he recorded a double-double with 14 points and a season-high 10 rebounds in a win over Nipissing.

From 2016-2020, Boursiquot played with Northeastern. During his last year with the Huskies, he averaged 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, and his .569 field goal percentage ranked third in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Boursiquot graduated from Immaculata High School in Ottawa where he finished his career as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder.

A six-foot-two guard from Ottawa, Aiden Warnholtz has averaged 7.2 points and 2.5 assists in 57 games over a three-year span with the Carleton Ravens, where he won three consecutive U SPORTS National Championships and two OUA titles.

This year, as a junior, he averaged 12.9 points and 4.3 assists in 14 games with the team. He finished eighth in the OUA in three pointers per game (2.3) and assists per game (4.3) and ranked fourth in the OUA in Assist/Turnover ratio (2.0). The 2022 Ravens Men’s Basketball Team MVP helped Carleton win the 2022 U SPORTS National Championship with his 15.3 points and 4.7 assists per game during three National Championship tournament games, in addition to shooting .444 from behind the arc.

Boursiquot and Warnholtz represent the third and fourth U SPORTS players to be added to the BlackJacks roster for the 2022 season. Earlier this year, the BlackJacks selected Nervens Demosthene and Guillaume Pépin in the 2022 CEBL U SPORTS Draft. U SPORTS players may have completed their university eligibility in 2021-22, or they may be returning to their university team in the fall and be classified within the CEBL’s U SPORTS Developmental player program.

This week, the BlackJacks announced the signing of American guard Jared Wilson-Frame and completed their Basketball Operations staff ahead of the 2022 training camp, tipping off with Media Day on Monday, May 16, 2022.
