Ottawa BlackJacks Sign Forward Christopher Ware

The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of American free agent Christopher Ware.

The 6-foot-8, forward has averaged 7.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 19.6 minutes, shooting .501 from the field in 197 games as a pro. Despite his size, Ware is more than a threat inside, owning a career .329 (169-513) mark from beyond the arc.

Ware has spent the past five seasons with Pinheiros Basquete of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), the Brazilian premier professional men's league. During his time with the club, Ware has averaged 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 139 games.

The 30-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, finished his collegiate career at Indiana Tech where he majored in Criminal Justice Mental Rehabilitation. 

Ware is the first American free agent signed by BlackJacks General Manager Dave Smart. The club will announce its training camp roster later in the day.
