Community leader and local personality to become a voice of the BlackJacks

The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that Vikta Paulo has been named the team’s public address announcer.

Paulo will use his voice to set the tone at TD Place during every BlackJacks home game, delivering an additional layer of excitement to the game by keeping the fans informed and pumped throughout the event.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Paulo’s passion for sports started with football. He played the quarterback position for the Gloucester Gators, followed by the Ottawa Invaders. His career as a PA announcer took off with Algonquin College in 2007, as he became their official announcer for the season. He then announced various sporting events for the Carleton Ravens and the University of Ottawa.

Paulo had the opportunity to showcase his skills and experience on the national level by announcing at the  2015 ParaPan-Am Games as well as the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto.

Voice of the back-to-back basketball national champions, Ottawa’s Topflight Academy, Paulo’s impact goes way beyond the game. His and his values are shared by the BlackJacks organization. He is a true community leader who volunteers his announcing services with youth basketball clubs and organizations in Ottawa. Along with DJ TDOT, the BlackJacks official DJ, Paulo will help create the electric atmosphere you will experience at TD Place during the BlackJacks inaugural season.

The BlackJacks tip off their inaugural season on May 7 when they travel to St. Catharines for a date against the Niagara River Lions. The first home game for Ottawa is scheduled for May 14 at the Arena at TD Place against the Hamilton Honey Badgers.
